Headshot session by the ballpark

I had a great session with Grace the other day. She performs (acts and sings) in plays in her spare time (which isn't much). She's from England and has just a fabulous British accent. She's also got these stunning clear blue eyes. Chek them out...
Grace has a very genuine smile that came out easily. Making a serious face was a task - when asked how to do it her friend told her to "think of something serious, like dog poo." Serious indeed.Again, I've been lucky to get someone totally laid back.
This is the one that she ultimately chose for her headshot in an upcoming production program.
Keep an eye open for Grace coming to a city near you!

Good luck, Grace!

Personal Session in Chicago

I spent this past week in Chicago where I met with the lovely Shelley to take some pictures for her. She's a gorgeous redhead with definite model looks to her. We got some great shots in Lincoln Park by the zoo and conservatory.

She's tall and thin and has such a friendly and natural air to her.
She's very easy going.
It took a few tries to get a serious face out of her (she just couldn't stop smiling) but she photographed well.
And she had an easy smile that I'm sure wows those Chicago men.

Thanks, Shelley; I had a great time!

Engagement Session at Chrissy Field

This past weekend I had an engagement session with a great couple who made the drive from Union City to Chrissy Field for Golden Hour (what photographers refer to as the hour before sunset when everything gets a beautiful golden glow). They have been dating for 7 years (she's a very patient woman). Their first meeting story was great: he threatened to throw her over a balcony at a friend's party. What an introduction. You could say he literally swept her off her feet! (Okay, that was really bad.) It was beautiful out and we made the most of the clear skies to get the Golden Gate Bridge in a few pictures.
She's short so I couldn't resist a tip-toe shot. (Not that I have any room to talk, just being barely 5 feet myself!)
I love going to Chrissy Field because it has so many great areas. I love grungy old industrial buildings - they just make a great backdrop.
They marry this fall and I'm so happy for them. It was incredibly obvious that they're truly in love.

All the best, guys!

Dog Portraits at Baker Beach

Have you ever seen such an adorable puppy?
9 month old Riley, a Wheaten Terrier, was a handful and absolutely hilarious. I had forgotten how funny puppies are. The best was when she literally ran circles around mom, just for the fun of it. Too funny.
Little Riley had a tiny attention span and was intrigued by everything on the beach. The water itself was quite a curiosity.
And the sand, of course...
The treats were plentiful but she wasn't very pleased when she had to pick them out of the sand. All of that sand up her nose was not appreciated.
She's not quite trustworthy enough to be without her leash in such a big area and she wound it around herself a few times though it didn't seem to bother her. She was a really good girl and a blast to play with. I was rolling around in the sand right along with her. The next day Riley's mom emailed me, "I think Riley had fun playing on the beach with you. I do know she has been tired all day - probably recovering!"

It was a good day...
