Carolyn + Jeremy: Engagement Session at UPenn

I met with Carolyn and Jeremy the other week at the University of Pennsylvania, where Carolyn went for undergrad, for their e-session. She had given tours during her tenure there so we got a great walk around the campus. Carolyn is from the Philly area though the couple now lives in Boston. They'll be celebrating their wedding in April at St. Thomas Church of Villanova and Philadelphia's Down Town Club.

We started by the Fisher Fine Arts Library to warm up from the blustery day. Who knew they had stairwells like this?

It was chilly, but really, who cares?

It's a fantastic campus and I learned a great many things about these two: Jeremy's brief stint as a model, the marathons and half marathons they do for kicks, Carolyn's apparent love for trashy TV during serious life moments, Jeremy's inability to finish cheesesteaks (for shame!)…

I believe the pickup line was "Are you tired? Because you've been running through my head all day." Always a winner.

So Jeremy proposed to a starving and "comfortably" dressed Carolyn. He came back from a business trip and presented her with a silver plated picture frame. He proceeded to tell her it could be used for a wedding picture and then popped the question. Meanwhile, Carolyn had NJ Housewives in the background while eating pizza, and had just come back from a rained out golf tournament. I love it! (She wiped her hands and said yes, by the way.)

They're hilarious, beautiful, and so laid back.

Though we passed up a photo op at the button, we ended at New Deck Tavern to warm up again and get a few beers.

I can't wait for the wedding next Spring. It'll be a blast!

Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.

Sara + Rob: Intimate Wedding at Philadelphia City Hall

Sara and Rob brought class (and teeth) to Philadelphia City Hall last month for their small but marvelous November wedding. It was only a few weeks prior that I was out with them and their furry baby, Boz, for an engagement session in New Jersey.

This was practically a fancied up engagement session with a wedding ceremony thrown into the mix. And it was wonderful! Sara wore a tea-length BCBG dress and carried a fallsy bouquet of calla lilies, tea roses, hypericum berries, and orchids from Eastwick's Florist. She (occasionally) wore pretty navy blue pumps (and very couture flip flops otherwise). The silk flower in her hair came from Etsy. Rob, a police officer, sported scales of justice cuff links.

We made use of City Hall's awesome stairwells. The rest of the building is fairly meh but those stairs are gorgeous. The perfect place to show off this equally gorgeous couple.

We gathered in the outer room with several other nervous to-be newlyweds before we were called in for the ceremony. (Though only one couple there looked this fine.)

It didn't take long before we gathered in the ceremony room – filled with books and a delightful justice of the peace. Supposedly there's a capacity limit for friends and family. Supposedly. Sara's best friend, Sarah, was literally shaking as she handed over the rings. It was adorable.

We took a few quick family formals outside before wandering around for more pictures of the two.

Our first stop was Philly's Love Park (of course) where Sara and Rob were met with applause from tourists and a few choice photo bomb opportunities.

(That's all for you, Sarah!)

We walked towards the Ritz Carlton on Broad Street where Sara and Rob were to rejoin their family for revelry after the pictures.

We wandered back towards Time, where Rob had proposed just a few months earlier. (If this all seems vaguely familiar, it is.) The staff there was gracious enough to open their doors early so we could get in for some pictures. We had the whole place to ourselves.

Sara and Rob, it was an absolute joy to share your day with you. A million congratulations!

I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door
Oh I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is...
You

Ailene + Jason: fall wedding at Joseph Ambler Inn

In my teaser post I mentioned that Ailene and Jason were married on a "chilly" November day. I've been corrected. It was downright freezing! Such a far cry from the hot (and incredible) engagement session we had just a few months earlier.

Ailene and Jason celebrated their wedding at the Joesph Ambler Inn in North Wales, PA (about 25 miles northwest-ish of Philadelphia). This couple was just as fun and beautiful as ever. Ailene, who looked amazing, wore a simple Nicole Miller sheath dress with a cute lace bolero (Etsy) and bright red, silk flower in her hair.

The florals were provided by Enchanted Florist and were perfect for this fall wedding. Ailene carried a bouquet of only red dahlias while her three girls carried bouquets of spider mums, delphinium, celosia, and green button mums.

And the jewelry was something else too. Jason's ring was partially created from meteorite and bore the inscription, " I'll love you forever. – A 11-6-10".

Ailene and Jason opted for a first look before the ceremony so that they would still have daylight for their pictures and have time to enjoy all of their cocktail hour. She carried a handkerchief that belonged to Jason's great grandmother (a good call since she got teary when she and Jason saw each other for the first time that day).

After goofing off with the wedding party and family we got to wander around the Joseph Ambler Inn. It's a great property with old stone buildings and brick walkways. It backs up to woods and we caught a glimpse of a few deer as well. It's right off the highway so it was really accessible but you'd never know it once you drive up the road.

The ceremony began as the sun was setting and was pretty much dark by the end. Poor Ailene was literally shivering while she was standing up there but she looked radiant.

Cocktail hour was held on the outdoor terrace and consisted of laughter and mingling while gathered around the heat lamps.

Guests were brought into the ballroom and the reception began ad Ailene and Jason danced their first dance to Elton John's "Your Song".

The reception was great. Great toasts, dancing, and smiles all around!

The favors were cookies from her grandmother's recipe that Cailin, her maid of honor, and mother made in the days leading up to the wedding. Her mom also made triple ginger and oatmeal chocolate cookies for the dessert table. Yum!

What a fantastic day! Jason and Ailene, thanks so much for bringing me in to be a part of it!

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
